I have been following this thread for a while now.

The Libertarian in me says... NO LAWS NO Conditions.
Some nitwits will carry open with "0" training... and the "Laws of Nature" will weed those folks out soon enough. If they don't shoot each other some other dumb move will send them to jail because of their demostrated incompetence.
The Gremlins have been tucking a gat since day one anyway. The police will still arrest and the courts will still convict for the crimes that are commited anyway.

We have not seen blatant open carry in the states that allow it. Logic tells me that the act may spike for a while but the novelty will wear off soon enough.

Michigan has had open carry on the books for years. Carry in Detroit--- a blue car will be along soon. Why? There are several OTHER laws on the books about creating a hubbub in public and such. Carry an open gun "up North" in the boonies--- no one will looks twice- 'cept a Detroiter at their 'summer cabin" who will call the SO to get placed on "hold".
Run around Arizona much and you see the same thing. Out in the boonies- walk into a gas station for a Coke-no one bats an eye. You don't see a lot of open guns in the big towns.

Toting a gun is a hassle anyway. We know how it complicates our lives to dress around a gun if we carry covered. Open pistols are problematic-- they bump and get hung and weigh a lot... Like I said before--- unless a person has a pretty good reason to carry a pistol- the novelty wears off fast enough for the posers.

The original house version was only making permit holder's information not available to the public, the senate amended it to include open carry. Now it has to go back to the house for them to consider the bill as amended by the senate.

What the governor signed was SB2239 which reduced the time from 90 days to 60 days for permit issuance and provides a new fingerprint format compatible with the electronic fingerprint system.

Follow HB3354, that the one which was just ammended by the senate to include open carry, it's engrossed and back in the house on monday for the house to consider.

Like was said earlier can I open carry if it passes sure, wil I? Not likely but it allows me to carry conveniently on the bike, and cover up when I get to my destiantion.

As said before, will i carry open, probably not. will i be a lot less worried if my cover shows the gun on accident, you bet i will. It will reduce the burden some.

Heres my question though, As I hold the Utah Non Resident, is the new bill going to allow us to carry open inside Oklahoma or will it be for Oklahoma resident permits only? I would assume that as long as the state recognizes an out of state permit that person could carry open in the state. Just something that I would need clarified before I went strapping the gun on and forgetting the cover.

Be sure and contact your representatives and express support for this legislation.
That's the plain and simple way to get it passed.
For the most part they listen to the squeaky wheels.
The more support for it, the more likely they will vote in favor for it.
Encourage all your known like minded friends to contact them also.

It's a slam dunk my state Sen will vote for it - in fact he did. I wouldn't bet a plug nickle that that commie scum bag Richard Morrisette would vote for it though. I threw him off my property once when he ran the first time and was doing door to door campaigning. I told him "his dirty democrat socialist ass wasn't welcome at my home and not to come back". Probably not a terribly wise thing to do but GAWD it felt good! I imagine he remembers me - so the probability that any communication from me would influence him is about as close to ZERO as one can get.

Send him an email, remind him of your prior altercation and then tell him that you are STRONGLY OPPOSED to this bill passing and you would appreciate him opposing it as well...maybe he'll voite for it to spite you! :woot:
