restoring the 2nd amendment in full is winning, so, yeah, relegalizing machine guns is a winning strategy. a much better strategy than compromise and bargaining away until firearms rights are just a memory.

Please realize that public opinion plays a role in the gun control debate. Public opinion or the lack thereof got us the 1994-2004 AWB. If guns rights advocates start promoting unpopular ideas, people who are on the fence or who are casual gun owners will not only reject the unpopular idea, they close their ears to anything a gun rights organization has to say. It is critical that doesn't happen, if we win over the independents, we can then start building on that and incrementally get our full rights back.

If the NRA came out and lobbied for the NFA to be repealed they would be ridiculed and marginalized by big money media, and lose their influence. That cannot happen.

Would I love to own full auto firearms, hell yes. Trying to convince the average American to support their legalization is a losing strategy. I think SBR's and suppressors should be taken out the NFA though. If we play our cards right we may see them legalized in the next 5 or 10 years though. It all depends on how successful we are and more importantly, how successful Bloombag is. Right now it is our game to lose.

Incrementalism is an effective strategy, we just need to be patient enough to let run its course, the facts and stats are on our side.

incrimentalism is what got us where we are. the NRA has systematically, a piece at atime, made a mockery of our rights, working with our hired servants to reduce them to tokens of what they once were, and what the founding fathers intended.

We need use incrementalism to go the other way.

Stomping your feet and saying it is unfair will get us no where. We need to strategically and incrementally win in the courts and state legislature's to get our rights back.

Think about it, we are having a hard time getting national reciprocity, skipping steps to legalize machine guns will just recruit gun banners and alienate independents.

Where do you want to start getting our gun rights back? At what step specifically?

maybe you should choose a different organization. one that hasnt spent its life incrementally destroying your rights. it isn't going to have a change of heart any time soon.

national reciprocity is a step in the wrong direction as long as there are licenses involved.

have you talked to people? i know more than a couple who have gone from outright anti-gun to pro-2nd after a few talks.

I'm confident that if it weren't for the NRA and SAF we would be under a AWB right now. I'm sure other organizations helped too but the ones I mentioned are the most feared by gun banners and politicians.

I talk to people in person and on Twitter @lee10011 & @leland1001. I harass MAIG & the Brady Bunch & try to convert independents.

Reciprocity is incrementalism, 5-10 years after it passes we will start to see licensing go away. You have to acclimate people and the generations.

we are under an awb... brought on with the full support and endorsement of the NRA... this generation is acclimated to it and doesn't even realize it is less free than it would have been a hundred years ago. incrementalism works!

Yes we are much less free than 100 year ago, but in terms of 2A, a lot MORE free than we were in the late 1970's and early 1980's. No concealed carry in the 1970's or 1980's and no one did open carry either even though it was legal.
A lot of this is because of us grassroots folk supporting NRA and GOA. NRA today is MUCH different than NRA of the 1970's.
I give my money and support based on who is running it NOW, not on who WAS running it 30 years ago.
and I like how Wayne La Pierre is doing things there. Standing up to POTUS in early 2013 was excellent.
