restoring the 2nd amendment in full is winning, so, yeah, relegalizing machine guns is a winning strategy. a much better strategy than compromise and bargaining away until firearms rights are just a memory.
Please realize that public opinion plays a role in the gun control debate. Public opinion or the lack thereof got us the 1994-2004 AWB. If guns rights advocates start promoting unpopular ideas, people who are on the fence or who are casual gun owners will not only reject the unpopular idea, they close their ears to anything a gun rights organization has to say. It is critical that doesn't happen, if we win over the independents, we can then start building on that and incrementally get our full rights back.
If the NRA came out and lobbied for the NFA to be repealed they would be ridiculed and marginalized by big money media, and lose their influence. That cannot happen.
Would I love to own full auto firearms, hell yes. Trying to convince the average American to support their legalization is a losing strategy. I think SBR's and suppressors should be taken out the NFA though. If we play our cards right we may see them legalized in the next 5 or 10 years though. It all depends on how successful we are and more importantly, how successful Bloombag is. Right now it is our game to lose.
Incrementalism is an effective strategy, we just need to be patient enough to let run its course, the facts and stats are on our side.

we are under an awb... brought on with the full support and endorsement of the NRA... this generation is acclimated to it and doesn't even realize it is less free than it would have been a hundred years ago. incrementalism works!
