I took it that young man agreed with me BB

at five or 50 I've learned you cannot assume what a person "knows" these day.... But I can make "stupid" a defined condition for folks who "should know better"

you younger men and ladies.... Don't fear your kids. God put grown ups in charge and parents who are not cause a lot of problems for EVERYONE.

If my 16 month old kicks around fighting at mom or me (when getting diaper changed, or forcing to take medicine, etc.), he gets time out. 2 to 5 minutes.

He understands time out so well if we tell him, he walks over on his own, then sits down and starts crying.

But he does go over and take his punishment like a (little) man :)

Oh, I did too ... He is the same age as my boys so when he said 5 might not be old enough to know at first I LOL'd ... sounded just like my crew ... :D

My poor kids ... I was such a hard-nose that when other kids acted up at the mall my kids would make sure I knew it wasn't them ... "it's not me mom" in harmony!! :D

Looking back I "might" have been a bit harsh ...

But I had a sister who never did anything ... time out and "reasoning with" was the harshest punishment her kids ever got. By the time her oldest one was in high school she and her husband were sleeping in shifts because he threatened to kill them with a hammer in their sleep.

Little **** ...

He was acting the horse's behind and I got him off by himself and told him that I would wring his neck with my bare hands if I caught him being mean to the little kids or the pets around there (both of which he was prone to do). He might have had the other grown-ups fooled, but not me.

Later that evening my mom commented on how quiet he got when I came in the room ... LOL

It is sad, but not totally unexpected (at least by me anyway) that this child has spent most of his adult life in the pen. :disappoin All because he never had an adult in his life who would hold him accountable for his behavior.
