I finally went to just AT&T internet when I moved into an apartment a year ago. I use DirecTV Now and because I have both, AT&T waives the $30 fee for totally unlimited data for me. I have what they call very high bit rate DSL (VDSL) at 75 Mbps. I got an internet deal for upgrading from the baseline 50 Mbps rate, so my internet is $50/mo and my DirecTV Now (the Live a Little package with over 60 channels) is $40/mo. I use Walmart Family Mobile for phone service, since I get 1/3 off for being a Walmart associate.

Whats the process of getting the discount?

I watch SMA as well, one of the best channels on YT IMO. Loved the one where he did the power steering pump at home DIY style. People freaked out when they saw he was carrying. Then he said in the comments that he carries everyday. A few months later he did a complete data erase on his two old shop pc's with his 12 gauge and 9mm. I was like "Woah, demolition ranch meets SMA!". People really freaked out on that one, especially since he lives in NY.

Here’s some ideas.

We currently have Sling (no buffering issues) for channels similar to cable but for $25 per month. We also have Netflix, Hulu, amazon prime, and some other free streaming channels. I also have a digital antenna hidden in my attic and have access to another 50 or so local channels.

Tell you the truth, we don’t watch a lot of tv and I have started reading a lot more.

Here, but occasionally There.
Streaming success will also depend on your source for the signal. Here in the RV park where we are located, they have fiber optic cable feeding to the park, but the park's WiFi system is lacking. We are very close to their "hotspot" devices in the park, but when the park residents start getting home in the evening, WiFi goes to the devil. Too many getting on with their computers and streaming their TV. In other words, I guess something about the park's system's bandwidth (or something) is limited.

Yep, limited bandwidth doesn't help 1,000 people. Might want to git together with all the residents there and pool yer monies fer some more o that there bandwidth.

They sent me an email saying that I qualified for the discount--I didn't know about it before that and I think it's a new discount. I did link the two accounts together at MyATT.com and I use the same email for both so I think that's how they knew to apply the discount. There are a few other AT&T-owned services that qualify for the discount. I have two of those services--DirecTV Now and VRV.

In case you're wondering why I went with DirecTV Now--they're the only live streaming OTT service that offers all the major local channels (KJRH 2, KOTV 6, KTUL 8, and KOKI 23.) Sling, Hulu, Playstation Now, and YouTube TV all are missing one or more channels. The only local channel I wish DirecTV Now would add is the local CW, KQCW 19, but that's only so I don't have to switch over to antenna for the last hour of the 6 In the Morning local news.

Another reason is that the DirecTV Now interface most closely mimics a cable box interface, at least on Roku. When you "turn it on," the app comes up to the last channel watched. On Roku, you press the UP button to bring up the channel guide, then use the UP and DOWN buttons to scroll through the guide. If you just want to change channels, you use the LEFT and RIGHT buttons to change channels.

The DVR is a bit klunky, and only holds 20 hours for 30 days, but I've discovered I don't watch much DVRed content any more. I don't even watch much of what's considered "entertainment" programming. I use DirecTV Now for news and my weekly NASCAR fix but most of the entertainment programming I watch these days is anime!
