What does a person need to do to jail break one? .

Go to troypoint.com and that site will tell you how to jailbreak, load a multitude of apps to the Firestick. But if you are going to do that, I suggest you get a VPN.

I had decided to rip out Direct TV and called them to have it removed and they offered me direct TV with HBO and Showtime all for $23.00 per month for one year and I took them up on their offer.

I cut the cable 4 years ago and made my own from PVC pipe and get 33 channels in NW OKC. It's in my attic facing the antenna farm east of here. Haven't had one bit of digital pixaling as with the rabbit ears and I don't have to constantly move it around like in the 50's to get snowy TV.

If you take care and measure and get the dimensions correct and the wires straight it will work great for local channels.

I built one of these several years ago. It worked fine, but I went with a larger antenna and don't use it anymore. That homemade antenna is still sitting in the attic.

If someone wants it, I'll go fetch it, to you can have it.

I’m looking at doing the same. Tired of getting jerked around by directv. Living in Blanchard, what kind of device or antenna would I need to get local channels as well?

Unplug everything and throw the antenna lead out the window.

Seriously, you cannot protect against a direct lightning strike. The power is just too massive.

The best thing is to not be the tallest structure in the area.

I used to work with a guy in the FD we called “Lightning”. He had actually been struck by lightning on three different occasions and survived. When the weather turned bad everyone stayed FAR away from him.

I'm guessing he was struck by a spider web offshoot from a main strike, or else pretty small ones. Still scary stuff.

check out philo.com. For $16 a month you can get quite a few channels, but not sports. I like History, Discovery, and Science channels.

Youtube is your friend. There are several videos about how to do it. Make sure you get the latest because they upgrade the software occasionally and it causes issues with it.
OR, find someone that will do it for you at a price. I traded my non-jailbroke to a person that had one ready to go for $20.
