The U.S. already produces enough oil, i heard we actually recently became a net exporter.

we're better off buying our oil from Saudi Arabia than blowing billions of dollars and american lives in syria, imo. it's cheaper and doesn't create a power vacuum for cocksuckers like ISIS.

It's a marketing deal. Use up theirs, and then rape them for ours.
Back before OPEC drove the price of oil down, we were an exporter. Now, not so much.
Oil prices were high. We found out how to extract oil from shale in the northern states and Canada. Expensive to produce and in Canada, when the tundra froze, it was impossible to drill, so it was somewhat seasonal. But, a lot of money was going into South Dakota and surrounding areas. Entire cities were being built and small communities were becoming rich.
Oil prices are a world wide business, still driven by OPEC. They control the markets with their oil and our shale oil is too expensive to produce to compete with them. They know this and are currently keeping the oil prices where they want them to keep their production high, and us relying on their production for gas and diesel.

I worked for 15 years at a business that built drill bits for drilling oil. My wife just retired from there in December of last year after 46 years.
We have a pretty good handle of how oil things are doing because of sales. Sales within the regions of producers also dictated the market.
Saudi and the other middle east countries punch holes with 28" drill bits that basically fall through the sand into the levels of oil bearing strata.
In the US, a 9 7/8' drill bit is the king. Just about everybody drilling uses that bit. Some with teeth hardened with stoodite like plow shares use, or some use carbide inserts for use in hard rock.
There are dozens of variations in the drilling industry and it all depends on the earth's structure they are trying to drill.
Sorry about being so long winded, but that's the state of the oil business in MHO.

If we make it out of this alive, Trump's just given the midterms and the 2020 election to the democrats...then they start passing the anti-gun legislation...SHTF began tonight one way or another...Trump lost enough of his base tonight forever deciding to do what we didn't want obama to do (be al queda's airforce). Enough voters will stay home in national elections now because this was our last hope to put American interests first and whatever the reason, he sold out. Heck he'll probably even get impeached or step down now...

"but he gassed his own people" - heard that one before in Iraq

A coalition with France and GB huh? Let's be honest. A few Limeys might get in the fray but no French troops will be involved when this thing spirals out of control. Half their country is filled with ISIS.
I just wish we'd be honest of why the middle east is important. It's not for oil anymore. It's to protect Israel and that's fine. Just arm the **** out of Israel with nuclear weapons. Any attack on Israel will be met as a direct attack on the US.
Let the Sand Tards kill each other.

If France gets involved at all, they’ll send in the Legion. France considers them expendable as soon as they sign up.

The saber rattling between Putin and Trump is based 100% on the U.S. backed pipeline from Qatar vs. the Russian backed Iran-Iraq-Syria pipeline. Both Russia's and the Qatari pipeline will go through Syria if built.

Putin knew Obama was a spineless boob and now he has someone with a backbone and stones to deal with. Personally I think Putin enjoys the challenge. Assad has been allied with Putin and the pipeline is called a clue when you ask why McCain and his dim cronies frothed at the mouth to get involved there.

This will not hurt Trump in the 2020 elections unless he does not follow thru on pulling the ground troops in Syria, and yes while part of the reason we are in the mideast is oil and part is Israel, it is not that simple. Part is a desire to keep them fighting each other instead of joining together, taking out Israel and then starting real attacks on the US. And yes they do have the ability to attack us, one tramp freighter with a Scud missile hidden in the hold, with an Iranian nuke or Syrian chemical warhead could cause us a lot of damage.

If we are going to defend that area, we need reparations in oil to cover our cost of doing so.
we can calculate the cost of equipment and training, but
how many barrels is an American life worth?

Edit: nevermind the government has got it covered
"As of 2011, the Environmental Protection Agency set the value of a human life at$9.1 million. Meanwhile, the Food and Drug Administration put it at $7.9 million — and the Department of Transportation figure was around $6 million."

averaging those together, comes to $7.6million
current price of oil is $67.4/barrel
1 american life =1,127,596 barrels of oil

Here's an idea! We can eliminate the radical Islamic scourge and global warming in one step! Nuke the entire area which will turn the desert sands into glass and reflect a bunch of solar energy back into space! :explode: :hot:
