It's been 23 years for me. I couldn't eat meat now if I wanted to. It's not that difficult. The first 21 days is the hardest. LOL

Many friends in our church are doing this.
Most of us are fasting something.
I'm cutting out sweets and coffee for the month (and I drink LOTS of coffee).

As for other OSA'ers that are fasting something this month, you're not alone.
Great things will result.

Most of the guys in my small group decided to do a spin off of the Daniel Fast and we are doing a water/juice fast. So in support of other OSA'ers that are fasting, you will be in my prayers for your fast as well.

I did this about a year ago. If you keep your mind on the spiritual aspect you will have better success and you'll be less likely to feel burdened by it. As others mentioned, nuts went a long way for me in keeping the edge off. There are many health benefits of getting your diet closer to what the human body is designed for. Besides the 12 lbs I lost, I just felt better. Stir-fried veggies (frozen bags) are pretty quick and with the right spices they do work well. You should try grilling fresh veggies too, quite tasty. Still to this day, my favorite plate at Compadre's is their grilled veggie fajitas. I just eat them right off the sizzling plate. :spaghetti:

I went 14 days in college with no food, only juice and water. The reason for doing so is a long story and I won't get into it. The first 3 days were the worst and it got easier after that. I was also putting in 12 hr days, 6 days a week in the sun. I lost 20 lbs that I didn't need to lose and my face started to look sunken in towards the end. I would say that being so busy kept my mind off of it too. Find plenty to do during your 21 days. If you're sitting around watching TV, you're not going to be able to focus on anything but the foods you can't have.
This is the truth. The first couple of days were rough, but this last Saturday was the worst because I was sitting around watching football and every other commercial was about food. I finally turned the tv off and just read my bible, it was the only thing that helped at the time.

Any fast can be good if you call on God and spend time in prayer when those urges/cravings come in. That's what it's for. The Daniel Fast has personally put a sour taste in my mouth (no pun intended) though. Our church's staff did it and they encouraged members to join a few years ago and every year since. After hearing them complain about their supposed joyous sacrifice for God and brag about accomplishing it. Then them focusing on the lost weight and endearingly calling it the "Daniel Diet", I didn't want to be a part of that.

My wife and I fast from time to time and sometimes individually. The items are different depending on what I'm into at the time (caffine, video games, solid foods). Always kept private as to focus on God and not seek empathy of others.

Well, thanks everyone for the input. The more I talk to people that have done this, or something similar, the more excited I am. It seems that their spiritual connections really deepened during it. Feel free to PM me with any verses that may have helped you through it. I downloaded a reading plan to my phone specifically for it, but you may have something it doesn't.
