Possibly so. What is your alternative to taking care of seniors on a fixed income?
It's way to complicated to wrap my brain around, but, healthcare is not a right, it is an entitlement to some extent just because of the high cost of medical procedure. Why can I get medical care far better in quality in Mexico or India for a fraction of the cost of here? Thats a fundamental problem. The US is way down on the list for healthcare.

You have to have an alternative to Medicare to prove your statement. People pay into it all their lives. If its not a right, why do we not have a decision to pay or not pay into it? Since we don't, it becomes a defacto right in a loose sort of way.

Truly handicapped people have no alternative, Able bodied folks that become disabled legitimately, and folks that worked in jobs that had no insurance should be written off?
The people that worked in jobs with no insurance still paid into medicare.

Your still working. You might want to look into health care costs now as if you weren't working with obamacare. Just call one of the exchanges and see what it would cost you today. We have. Then consider the 2016 upcoming raise in costs. Folks on SS alone would not be able to afford medical care without medicare.
I have looked into it. A person with the max SS benefit would only have a few dollars a year left over to live/eat on.

So again, what is your proposal to do away with medicare?

I'm going out a little further here. The fraud in Medicare is pretty rampant. Why so? One reason is that its fairly easy to defraud the government. Some businesses do it, medical or not. Most don't, but the government sure makes it easy to go down that path.
Get more people into making sure medicare is properly administered, and paid for. A lot of medical doctors won't take in medicare patients because the government won't pay enough to sustain their practice. I have first hand experience with a family member to back that up.

So how would you dissolve our health care system as it exists to make it into a more "European" example.

BTW, a lot of rich Europeans come to the US for medical care.

Well, you will flame me for this but hows about setting yourself up to cash flow medical care. You get a discount paying cash and its kinda like maintaining your vehicle...your car insurance doesnt cover and oil change, neither should health care ins. cover you unless your a wreck.

I don't have a problem. We looked into it for family members that didn't have insurance, and can't get it now.

You didn't address the problems with folks that never had a job that offered insurance, have a legitimate need and a job that doesn't pay enough to buy the insurance offered at today's prices.

There are TONS of jobs unlike yours that don't offer any insurance as a benefit. Sales folks, contractors, etc. All necessary to the economy, and they pay into the medicare system.

What would you do if you became handicapped because you left your job or were fired, no longer had your insurance and became disabled in a wreck or accident? You would rely on Medicaid or Medicare is what you would do. Right?

I would not. No. Im not going to grow old thinking the gov. Is going to take care of me when im old. I am going to be set up to cash flow. And I will shop the world if I need a certain procedure. No I won't pay the US cost for a knee replacement or such.

Seriously? How would you afford these international trips to save some money?

Example: You got laid off tomorrow because of the economy, not your work ethic. A week later, you were jostling around a pool with a buddy, and fell backwards breaking your spine and became paralyzed from the nipples down.

How would you handle that?

Care to tell me where I can get this? I just went to the dentist and my crown is going to be $1000 if I pay it out of my pocket. If I wait until March 1, when my insurance kicks in on major it's $750 and I pay 1/2 of that. Same scenario with my eye doctor. Insurance = lesser amount charged. And no it's not a reporting thing, it's a cost reduction off the gross fee. Doesn't make a bit of sense to me but them's the facts...

Could be that Trump just is smart enough to read the tea leaves or just knows how things work?

It is interesting to compare Sweden’s approach and the Muslim immigration problems arising there to Japan’s approach and the non-existence of such problems there.

The reason for the difference is simple. Japan, unlike Sweden, has been much more circumspect about all immigration in an effort to preserve its own culture.

Interesting but evidently VERY RACIST article here

Insurance companies generally have a set amount in reference to those types of procedures that they will pay, per their contract. You can shop around for cash prices though.
