Insurance companies generally have a set amount in reference to those types of procedures that they will pay, per their contract. You can shop around for cash prices though.

I know all about the negotiated contract pricing. What boggles my mind is that nobody I've asked yet will match it. And they don't have to wait, fill and process any forms or anything other than deposit a check in their bank.

Well, a large number of Muslims [http://www.worldpublicopinion.org/pipa/pdf/feb09/STARTII_Feb09_rpt.pdf] are violent towards Americans and agree with terrorism from what i can see. It's common sense to single out groups that have large numbers of violent islamic jihadists in it. Not all muslim are terrorists, many are peaceful and productive members of society. But you can't tell who is an extremist seeking to do harm, or just a regular peaceful muslim.

If 9/11 happened in Dubai and they were all Christians killing in the name of G*d, and if the Paris attacks were carried out in Beirut by Christians killing hundreds of innocent people for 'Christ', could you blame them for wanting to regulate Christian travel to the middle east?

That being said, it would probably be far more effective to completely stop immigration from countries with extremist tendencies(Iran, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, etc) than to ban entire religions from entering the United States. Such policies are pointless anyway since we can't control our own borders as is. I don't believe Islam is inherently violent, but the conditions created in the middle east and mosques/religious leaders that are at best indifferent and in some cases provide moral support to radical islam are causing a particularly violent strand of extremism.

Trump knows the game of politics, media and public persona. Inflammatory statements, outrageous as they are start conversations and in fighting among candidates and politicians. He plays the media like a violin and controls what direction they go. It is hilarious to me to wait and see what he is going to say next. Then see the reaction. It's all a game.

I cant agree with that. Back in the 30, 40, 50...we were doing well. The US was a leader on all sorts of fronts. People could afford a nice house and a couple carpet munchers on dads salary alone. Kids were taught manners by the mom because she stayed home with them until they were older. Wages were good, life was good.

I can only afford one lesbian on my income. (Sigh)

Care to tell me where I can get this? I just went to the dentist and my crown is going to be $1000 if I pay it out of my pocket. If I wait until March 1, when my insurance kicks in on major it's $750 and I pay 1/2 of that. Same scenario with my eye doctor. Insurance = lesser amount charged. And no it's not a reporting thing, it's a cost reduction off the gross fee. Doesn't make a bit of sense to me but them's the facts...
That would be off topic. Start a new thread and we can discuss it.

Well, you will flame me for this but hows about setting yourself up to cash flow medical care. You get a discount paying cash and its kinda like maintaining your vehicle...your car insurance doesnt cover and oil change, neither should health care ins. cover you unless your a wreck.

That is a bit of a myth. You can get a cash upfront discount, but it is usually quite small, which is ridiculous considering that my insurance pays a fraction of the actual cost, with a very small copay on my end. I had my esophagus scoped a few months ago. That's a 5k-ish procedure, and my insurance paid maybe 1500.

That is one of the reasons medical care costs so much in the US. The insurance companies negotiate lower prices for themselves, and the uninsured pay much, much more. Additionally, most docs and hospitals build in extra charges to cover those that can't/don't pay their bill. Beyond that, prices of equipment and drugs are kept high in the US to provide capital for research.

All of that said, medical care is a right, as in you have a right to access medical care. That does not mean it is free or even affordable. You do not have a right to medical insurance, that is a privilege.

Medicare is a right and an entitlement. You pay in all your life, you have purchased it already, making the ability to access it a right, but it is also an entitlement at the same time.
