Just because you have 4-8 hours of training doesnt make you a trained person as firearms go. I view them as more informed.

Just wondering; how many hours of training does a person need to be considered trained?

I figure it's a continuum; any is better than none, but you can always do more.

Also what is and what is not considered training?

Is practicing fundamentals of drawing, aiming, and trigger pull training?

Or does there have to be a "trainer" involved

how trained does the trainer have to be?

At least be able to load a mag with the bullets in the right direction, and be able to insert the mag into the weapon in the right direction.
Then be aware of muzzle control and booger finger control.
When one gets involved in "new shooter" training, like some of us do, its easy to see that a lot of folks really need to attend a voluntary session of basic gun ownership after they purchase their gun.
Its a matter of personal responsibility when you become a new gun owner.

Personally i cant say, but 4 hrs in a classroom doesnt make people an expert in firearms. And you are right training is continum the more the better but people cant be judged by wether they attend a ccw class or not. Responsible gun owners know the laws and most abide by them. Criminals know the laws and choose to ignore them. Im not saying that people dont learn things in those classes but most ccw carriers think that just because you attend a class makes you a responsible gun owner.
