By the time you pay for the base material, springs, followers, and invest time in cleanup/finishing and assembly, you would have about $100 [shooting from the hip] in each mag. That doesn't include amoritizing the cost of the machine into each mag. This is why they are used for prototyping purposes. You get good parts quick, but far from cheap.

Fablab in Tulsa has a 3d printer. Its a community shop for open source projects or just hobbyists tinkering.

Currently 3d printing is uneconomical for actually manufacturing durable goods, but you can print up pre production prototypes at fablab for a small fee.

Its only a matter of time. I'm typing this on my phone, which is far more powerful than my 6 year old laptop.
