From 2026 on.
If I am not mistaken. I think you could already shut down a vehicle with Onstar.
That was over 15 years ago so nothing out of the ordinary here.

Ya don't like it then quit buying new cars.
If you can afford a 2026 vehicle and actually want one chances are you care less if the computer does things

Watch for it, there will be a spate of news stories on how drunk drivers and car thefts have been thwarted by nanny technology. I will take a stab at this, there will be hacks and techniques to disable it but do you really want to depend on it? It's bad enough that I have to wear a tinfoil hat, now I need one for my vehicles.

Get this.
Buddy has a brand new Honda accord hybrid that has some sort of lane assist.
Camera in the car up high looking through windshield and keeps car centered between the stripes.

Not new tech at all. I worked on order picker forklifts that were wire guided steering .
You had to get over the buried wire and push a button to activate it.

Now this Honda did a stupid move on the way to SE OK.
It pulled into the left lane and my buddy could not correct the steering.

I seen him fighting the steering wheel and asked what he was doing.
TRYING TO STAY IN MY LANE BUT I CAN'T !!!

F THAT CAR.

He was getting 46.1 mpg city/highway driving delivering stuff checked with math filling it up and the car stated 49 MPG.
He said it is always high by the computer.
The faster all highway MPG was 36 MPG by the computer.
A little better than my 1995 corolla.
