to flush the coolant, drain the radiator and pull the block drain plug on the drivers side rear bottom of block - its an alen wrench. there is a drain plug behind the starter also but you dont have to drain both sides. Fill with distilled water and the flush chemical (2 quarts), drive for an hour and drain the same way again. No fill with distilled water drive to circulate and drain...repeat untill you see only clean water coming out. Not all the water will come out (about half actually) so you need to buy the ELC concentrate and not the 50/50 mixed. I cant recall how many gal. it wook but I want to say 4. Your owners manual will tell you so buy half as much as it says.

277,000 on the 6.0, original egr cooler, 2nd egr valve, which egr delete did you go with?
In 2003 the EGR coolers were much more robust, its later years that had more issues with those failing. I used a guy on Ebay called Rivercity diesel or something I think it was. Most any of them are good quality and the same average price. Installing it is a ***** with the cab on though.

I have heard the same about the install, so I've been dragging my feet for years:)

It can be done cab on, the trick is getting the turbo off in order to take the intake off. The intake will be full of soot (caked on) and should be vat dipped or otherwise cleaned good. Get an experienced helper and an overhead creeper and you will be done in a day.
But mainly I would flush the coolant. thats easy.

MKM Customs is the go to for the delete option. Bulletproof makes a EGR cooler with a lifetime warranty. Coolant flows through the oil cooler to the EGR cooler. Once the oil cooler begins to bet blocked off you loose coolant flow to the EGR cooler which is what kills them. Switch to the CAT ELC coolant and add a coolant filter from MKM and you will be good to go. The coolant filter is $150 and installs in less than 15 mins. The delete isn't that hard to install. The turbo is bolted down with 4 10mm bolts. Just turn it sideways once its free of the craddle and it pulls right out.
