Ill take my duramax long before a janky Ford 6.0 or 6.4. If you want to pay 40-50k for one of those and then another 5k to have to tear the engine down after you remove the cab good luck with that. My company is getting rid of all the 6.0's and 6.4's we are done with the huge bills on trucks with under 200k miles. We have 5 sterling bullets with the 6.7 cummins they are great trucks.

I'd say that Allison had issues somewhere. We have over 200 class 8 tractors with Allison's and don't have any problems like that. They may not be the best for pulling hills but they dont hunt for gears either. All of our frac pumps have Allison's behind 2500 hp MTUs as well.

yes, we just deleted the egr, arp head studs the whole 9 yards. every time i send one in its 5 k minimum, 6.4 and the 6.0's the last 6.0 i got rid of it only had 140k on it they wanted 9,200.00 to replace the busted heads. it was getting diesel in the coolant. i cant believe the cost and problems we have out of these fords. we have 40+

Just curious, what do those 40+ Fords do?

Ford still says to use their Gold Coolant which you should absolutely NOT use. It has silicates and will clog your oil cooler which will stop flow through the EGR cooler and that's what kills your engine. Change the Ford Gold crap ASAP and get some Cat EC1 rated coolant in there.
Absolutely agree. Ford Gold is crap and will cause expensive failures.
These trucks/engines are bulletproof once these issues are addressed. I put 165k on mine before I did these mods and never had any failures but I did it to prevent future issues after learning so much about this stuff from people who are smarter than me.
The torque shift tranny in the fords is a better tranny than an Alison also. Thats partial opinion and partial word of other mechanics that know.

I feel the pain as well, just got my '05 Excursion out of the shop. $4+K bill, leaky EGR, heat exchanger and a leaky head gasket. Had them put in the EGR delete kit while in there. Didn't think to ask about the coolant but if silicate based, will be changing ASAP.
