My wife pointed one out yesterday in front of us. He was browsing or something when the light turned green and then damn near bagged a curb on the other side of the intersection.

Anyone else notice this going on? I guess with aircards it's a little easier.

I believe it should be a minimum 500.00 fine for using a laptop or a cell phone/texting while driving. If something is so important to endanger lives to make a call it don't take that long to pull off the road. The only way to bring it under control is to hit the offenders hard in the wallet.

Good chance it was someone in sales. They may have been looking at their routing list or something like that. No worse than playing with the radio, reading the paper, putting on makeup, texting, etc. All of these are common and all are dangerous to some extent. I would guess that most of the posters on here have engaged in one or more of these distractions at some point while driving. I said all of that to point out it's a wonder we don't have more car accidents.

Before the Tom Toms and the NavMan's came down in price, I used to have a GPS/USB device that plugged into my laptop. It came in handy on long trips. The 17" laptop screen also doubled as a DVD player. Once I had my route programmed and underway, I could kick in a movie for the kids to watch while I drove.

Now all that stuff comes built into to new cars from the factory.
