Molly Hatchett has fantastic musicians and had a great singer in Danny Joe Brown until he died and Jimmy Fararh took over.
Are they still touring I haven't heard anything about them in a while?

Not sure, but I think they were touring within the last couple of years.

I've always loved their music and have seen them live twice. They opened for REO Speedwagon back in the late '70's or early '80s and they were every bit as good as REO if not better. Then I saw them a couple years later at Loyd Nobel when they were the main act. Great stage performance each time.

Lynyrd Skynyrd was also underrated IMO and a fantastic performance from a "musical performance" standpoint even if you don't consider their epic hits. One of the best live performing bands ever. Period! Every member they had was awesome. But they've lost a couple of their original members in recent years.

I'd put Molly Hatchet real close to LS.

In that category, how about these cats?

Skynyrd is OK, Molly Hatchet is righteous, The Outlaws are mind blowing.

Hughie is one of the most underrated guitar players ever.

Yep they're good, no doubt. But I'll call you're Outlaws with a little Blackfoot.

I personally think Skynyrd was better than Molly Hatchett in the beginning before the plane crash that killed Ronnie Van Zandt, Steve Gaines (phenominal guitar player) Cassie Gaines and the road mgr. Dean Kilpatrick. Alot of people think the whole band died but they didn't then. I think most of them are dead now though. Allen Collins died right after they returned in 1987, Leon Wilkerson (bass) died a few years ago, Billy Powell(keyboards and piano) recently died. Gary Rossington is still with the band and I am not sure about Drummer Artimus Pyle?
All the new band is O.K. but just not the same.
Also there is .38 special they are good and will be here in Tulsa on Oct, 16th ( I have my ticket already) at then Osage casino.

I saw them about 10 years ago at the Zoo. Rossington was still with them and Artimus Pyle was too, I think. They were freaking awesome then. Rossington sure could pound the ivory.
