The whole convicted felon thing is a red herring. If a felon walks out in public with a firearm, the absolute last think in the world they're gonna do is let anyone know they have it until they pull it out to commit a crime. Only a fudd would buy that part of their lame argument. As for the training gambit, do they have to take training and pass a test to exercise their 1st Amendment rights to lobby our representatives? Because from what I'm seeing, they damn sure need to! :(

Apparently you have to register as a lobbyist in order to communicate with certain elected officials.

Perhaps if you ran some Shoot-N classes you would benefit from requiring training. I sincerely hope that this is not the driving force behind that part of the statement, but I can find no logic at it's base.

Also the whole premise ORA brought up about reciprocation is a farce as well. Do other states not allow non-residents to open carry while in their state? Do other states require licensing for open carry?

From the ORA website, dated March 31, 2011:

SB129 - During the past week officers of the Oklahoma Rifle Association have had very constructive dialogue with Sen. Steve Russell, author of Senate Bill 129.

Sen. Russell is working with ORA to craft legislation that addresses the 2nd Amendment and concerns raised over public safety issues.

We urge members of the Oklahoma Legislature to grant a fair hearing to a proposal which will be in the interests of all law-abiding Oklahomans and those who cherish the “Right to Keep and Bear Arms.”

Sen. Russell’s good faith effort in addressing concerns is applauded. SB129 should be given full and complete consideration.
