I didn't see this mentioned above, but what about a form area for the price/value that must be filled out before the new post/ad can be created? Kinda of how if you don't pick WTS, WTT, WTB from the drop down menu, the post wont go through....

Or make a sub forum under the Firearm Classifieds that is for trading only for the guys that only want to do that, but not post a price...

I think we need to clarify the rules a but. In the meantime, if you ONLY want to trade, please state that clearly in the very beginning of your ad.

Obviously, we are trying to avoid "silent auctions."

Yes. They are. Just clearly state that at the beginning if your ad.

Are trade only items allowed, even if your not sure exactly what you want?

I did exactly this in my last ad and it still got closed. Whats up with that?

It's just like your new ad, you have no specific trade and your trades are all over the place in price. I can get a .22 for $200....a tactical shotgun for $300...... a new glock costs ~$500.

We have no idea or even a reasonable ballpark to which you value your trade.

My opinion is if you are not looking for a specific, known / common, item, then you must list either a sale price or trade value in dollars. That is the way I've enforced the classifieds.

The idea is to eliminate auction type ads and phishing expeditions.

I'm rescinding my opinion. All this craziness shows me that "wtt for xyz" is meaningless. I want to see prices on everything, period; and I want to see that changed in the rules.

It's not meaningless if you want to trade for a specific item OR specific items that are within the same price range. Whether they intend to or not, many people are being extremely vague and it creates a bidding situation. WTT Mine for exactly (x) = Good..... mine for maybe a glock, maybe an upper, maybe some ammo = bidding situation without a stated value as all of these things have mild to wild pricing.

Maybe it would be a good idea to start a "WTT" only forum in the Marketplace. We have a "WTB".

That would make it a lot easier for both Traders and Sellers.

A lot of people prefer to trade.
