Yep. I drove almost 30 miles on Highway 9 yesterday and didn't see a single dead deer. That road is littered with venison during the rut phases.
going down nine yesterday turned onto harrah newallla rd and a nice shooter was walking across the road about 5:35ish. My brother called about 8 said he had hit one on Anderson rd and se15th st, said it was a nice buck. lots of coworkers telling me they are seeing bucks by there houses to the past couple days.
went and sat last night didn't see a deer one! I need to get some asphalt through there and some street lights to attract them!!
I made a huge circle around my known deer haunts while scouting for waterfowl/deer early this morning. Normally during rut I will see deer every mile making treks across open ground. This morning, I did not even see a doe in many miles of driving, glassing, etc. It ain't on yet.
Guess you could debate it all day, but just because one person doesn't see a doe for a while does not mean it is not on. My experiences the last two mornings have been the complete opposite. Had a wallhanger 10 out in front of me at 75 yards birddoggin the hell out of everything in sight this morning. When he would leave, a smaller 9 and 8 pt would take his place. This went on for nearly two hours.
