I'd keep S/N for any that were purchased in your name. That way if it is stolen from it's new owner & they don't have the S/N you'll still be able to provide it to the police.

When you sell a firearm to an OSA member, friend, or someone from armslist.com what steps do you take?

1) I prefer to meet at a local range for three reasons. The first being it's not odd seeing someone with a firearm in the parking lot. Second there are a lot of other armed individuals besides myself. Last but not least if the person wants to test the firearm they are more than welcome to on their own dime.

2) I never go unarmed (CC) or alone and I always bring at least two people with me.

3) I ask for an ID to make sure the individual I'm selling the firearm is of age to purchase said firearm (21 for handguns and 18 on all other firearms).

4) I remember the license plate of the vehicle that they drove and keep all info from our contact (cell phone, e-mail, ect)

Are there any other steps you guys think I should implore to make my transactions safer? I'm open to any suggestions and would like to know what others do during their face to face meets?

OSA members rate way up on the scale. Sell a gun to one of them you are 99.9 percent sure everything will be ok. Meet where ever everyone is comfortable, some dark parking lot or Braums, it is all good.

None of my friends would want anything I have, so no sales to them.

Armslist, Craigslist or any other lists are pretty much out. Gotta draw the line somewhere. If you are patient enough, whatever you are looking for will show up here. If you are selling, samething, someone will eventually offer you something.

No offense but that is a little extreme. I have bought, sold, or traded many things off Armslist over the last year. I always offer it here first but that is only to let the OSA community have first shot at whatever I'm selling / trading. I have even met a guy out of state on Armslist to buy a hard to find gun. That being said I feel more comfortable making a deal with an osa'er because of feedback, post count ect... But if you are looking to move something Armslist gets much more exposure. I have probably done 15 transactions off al, never one hiccoulp.
I would say I always carry, but I carry everyday anyways

I do like most of you meet in a parking lot, swap gun for cash and that it. I will be carrying and I assume that the other guy is as well.

I have done a number of deal with members here and from Armslist and even craigslist. Never once had a problem. Heck I have done way more sales on Craigslist than anywhere. Everyone I have dealt with has been decent and respectful. If I get a bad feeling on the phone, I dont do the deal.
