Minimum a bill of sale with a phone number so you don't get blamed for a crime you didn't commit.
Always cover your a$$ just in case...

When you sell a firearm to an OSA member, friend, or someone from armslist.com what steps do you take?

1) I prefer to meet at a local range for three reasons. The first being it's not odd seeing someone with a firearm in the parking lot. Second there are a lot of other armed individuals besides myself. Last but not least if the person wants to test the firearm they are more than welcome to on their own dime.

2) I never go unarmed (CC) or alone and I always bring at least two people with me.

3) I ask for an ID to make sure the individual I'm selling the firearm is of age to purchase said firearm (21 for handguns and 18 on all other firearms).

4) I remember the license plate of the vehicle that they drove and keep all info from our contact (cell phone, e-mail, ect)

Are there any other steps you guys think I should implore to make my transactions safer? I'm open to any suggestions and would like to know what others do during their face to face meets?

Atleast 2 people with you? WTF? If I drive up and see three people waiting in a car, I'm not stopping. I will assume the motives are not noble and will drive away. Three guys in a vehicle on a gun deals looks very suspicious and can be taken as very threatening.

My routine is public parking lot. Shake hands, view goods, exchange money and go our separate ways. OSA deals have always been great. I'm a little more cautious and picky with who I deal with on armslist.

7/11 or Walmart parking lot where there are plenty of people. If they will meet you there to do a transaction then they are usualy legit. All you need if you want to be legal about it is their name and address.

I have had people walk up to my place to buy a gun I posted on Armslist, see my Beretta on my side, and turn around and get back in their car, and leave!

Also had them ask if they were "safe"

LOL...

neg influence, I roll up on a FTF with multiple dudes, I am leaving!

No, you don't have to have a name or address in your files to be legal. Your not required to have any of that info for a private sale. I would never buy from an individual where I had to give any of my personal info such as a drivers license number. Name and telephone number but that about it. And a bill of sale is not proof of anything as you can make one up unless it is notarized and if you do that just fill out a Fm 4473.

Well, sure you can lie about. But one thing is for sure; you will have the proper phone# on the BoS.
I don't buy/sell a firearm w/o paperwork. Buyer know this with the first contact. If they don't agree they can buy somewhere else.

I keep track of my collection and file EVEYTHING what comes in and goes out.

And if I get a call 5yrs later that one of my guns was used to commit a crime I can tell you exactly to whom I sold it to and when.

I drive a SUV with limo tinted windows so you aren't going to see the two people with me. 9 out of 10 times my wife and a friend are the ones that will accompany me on my face to faces. 9/10 times both stay in the car unless the person i'm selling to also brings a friend then my buddy will usually step out. I usually park behind the person and my wife is the one that will write down the tag #. Any gun I sell in my name I usually record the name of the person I sold it to, their contact info (e-mail and phone number), and the S/N off the gun.

Some might say I'm over cautious but in the past I have sold a firearm to an individual that was used in a murder. Ever since that head ache I would like to try and have as much info as possible especially if the gun is in my name. IMHO there are way to many crazy SOBs out there and you can never be to safe. As far as having two extra people with me you will never see them unless you bring someone along with you.
