My wife is being nice so I took this opportunity and asked her to buy me a win 7. I checked on newegg the win 7 pro and win7 ultimate are not much different. Which one of these would you buy?
If you want to use it in any language besides English, then get Ultimate. I use Pro on my computers.
as i understand it, the two differences between ultimate and pro are the 35 languages and the bitlocker feature that is found on ultimate. I use truecrypt full drive encryption so I don't worry about bitlocker and I only speak english so having a copy of pro doesn't really bother me any (I have a copy of ultimate though as well)
Long story short, you don't need this unless you're being targeted by highly-skilled industrial espioneurs. Others have mentioned TrueCrypt; use this if you want disk encryption.
Well, if your a geek then Ultimate VHD booting is enough to sway the purchase.
