If you've been put in a situation where you fear for your life do you stop to chat or do you neutralize the threat?
If the situation involves your head being pounded on the concrete I say you should neutralize the threat.

Might I point out, that the police dispatcher, whom Zimmerman was actively on the phone with, ASKED Zimmerman to get out and follow Martin so the responding officers would know where Martin was when they arrived? This portrayal of Zimmerman as a "stalker" is inaccurate. He was acting at the request of the Police, who he was actively in contact with. Now why in the world you you call the Police and have a "chat", if you were "stalking" someone. Zimmerman had taken on the responsibility of being a watchman for his neighborhood, and was doing ALL the things the Police, WHO HE CALLED AND WAS IN CONTACT WITH, were asking him to do.
According the the 911 transcript the dispatcher told Z-man not to follow.
Having a CCL & a CCL badge do not give one the authority to act as law enforcement. In fact, if you carry you should go out of your way to avoid confrontation. Ol Georgie was carrying his courage in a holster.
it is pretty presumptuous to assume that the head of a neighborhood watch, whose neighborhood had been victim to a recent crime spike, would not have followed a suspicious suspect late at night if he weren't carrying. if that is the case, let us also assume that if he had not be carrying, he would be dead or in a comma because his head was being bashed into the pavement.

Thing is, although Zimmerman was headed back to his vehicle when Martin hit him, Martin did what anyone would probably do to what they thought was a Chicken Hawk. If you thought a middle aged gay guy on the prowl was tailing you, and you were 17, would you head to the house, or would you double back an gett'im?
Can we also assume that had Z-man not be carrying that he wouldn't have had the balls to stalk a person that he didn't like the looks of? Z-man's courage was his gun and his CCL badge.
I guess your going to assume everything you want to to make your argument valid. Of course maybe you aren't making baseless assumptions to fit your argument, it could be that you are a professional psychologist who knows "Z-man" so well(personally) that you can postulate exactly what happened and why without any shadow of a doubt. You know for a "FACT" that he was emboldened by his right to carry a firearm and maliciously sought out this poor defenseless and completely innocent child with the sole purpose of distributing vigilante justice. Unless you were there or know either person(or both) intimately, you don't know anything but the facts that have been presented, weighed, and judged(which say NOT GUILTY). Just let it go already......it is over.
Evidently, Martin wasn't defenseless.
