navy pier I'd not far from the miracle mile. Its not at the pier but they have one of the best aquariums ever! Can't remember the name but I think it is on the west side?

Allow plenty of time for any of the museums: Field, Art, or Science/Industry. A minimum of 1/2 day for any of them. My family and I did the Field Museum and the Shedd Aquarium in one very full day. I got less than 3 hours at MOSI and felt very cheated but that was on the day we were leaving so we had a tight schedule. The trip to MOSI via train then bus will help you understand situational awareness in a unique way. You will really get the lyrics from Jim Croce's "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown" in the part about the South Side of Chicago.

Food: plenty of opportunity to have a great experience so it's just a matter of choosing steak, pizza, Mexican, Greek, Chinese, Indian...you get the picture. On my personal list if there should be a next time in Chicago is one of the Rick Bayless Mexican places: Frontera Grill or Topolobambo.

I prefer Lou Malnati's Pizzaria to Gino's. I saw that Malnati's had the better online reviews as well. Pequod's Pizzeria and The Art of Pizza are highly recommended as well.

Shedd Aquarium?

I'm from Chicago so here are my suggestions:

Kingston Mines or Buddy Guy Legends for some live blues (if you're into that)
Gino's East for deep dish pizza
Get a Chicago dog and don't ask for ketchup, please
Chinatown, BBQ King House is my favorite
Breaded steak sandwich from Ricobene's. It's on 26th & Wentworth just west of Wentworth. This is south of Chinatown.
Gyro from Greektown, it's on Halsted and Jackson, forgot the name of the joint.
Mexican food, it's all good wherever you pretty much go

And watch out for mobs of black teens. Yes, they're attacked people on the Mag Mile so don't think you're exactly safe there. Honestly, I think Chinatown is one of the safer places in the city.

Lincoln Park on the north side is still pretty safe.

I found this:
Things to do in Chicago

All I know about Chicago are the mostly the nightlife stuff to do- bars, sporting events, and eat places. When Im in most mid to large cities its due to either playing music, doing business, or visiting a friend or relative, so either way I am almost always staying with a friend or a relative when I am most anywhere. I get screwed by only seeing things when Im in certain places from the natives point of view and in turn miss out on alot of the cool sites and stuff to do because the natives stay away from the tourist attractions and just hit up their favorite eat and drink places.
