Pm me as well. I'm going through the same thing from my afghan injuries last year, I go to the va 1 day a week for theropy at OIF/OEF center on the 3rd floor. It's rough but they are helping me out!! I'll give you the details.

Gunnut - Any update? Did the VAMC get you some help? I'm off to the VAMC on Wednesday, myself. Send me a pm and let me know how you are. Every day, I look at my kids and have to force myself to stay with them. I know you don't have somebody like that for you, so want to make sure everything is ok. Let us know.
I gotta agree with you. You older guys around here will remember my time, and while not combat related it was still a dark, lonely place. I'm NEVER sad but when this stuff gets you, it gets you bad. If it hadn't been for you guys and GC things would not have gone so well for me ...

I agree that the statement posted by Clay bothered me as well. I hope it was just a well intentioned effort of encouragement. However, the statement as stated also makes light of a very serious problem. Veterans can suffer greatly with depression. Despite strong efforts to shake depression on one's own, it can persist with fury at times. Depression impacts work, family, health, and may even lead to the end of one's life. It's like telling a cancer patient to pull up their boot straps and go on. Depression is as much a disease as cancer. Whether the statement was I'll intentioned or not, we have to take ownership of our words.
Now, let's let go of any negativity and turn it around to saying, gunnut, we are with you. I am also glad that you reminded us all that we all need to reach out to others in our lives; that takes courage.
