In response to original post. I know how you feel dude. Lifes a sux after combat. I'm getting 80% from VA from my injuries from combat. For years I remember sleeping better outside of the wire on the hood of my M1114 than at home. I got sick of being an ass to my wife and kids so I went to see a civilian doc. It took multiple trips to the doc but I found a brand and dosage of anti depressents that makes me feel like my old self. I'm not doped up like a zombie but I do feel as close to normal as a experienced combat vet can be. I sleep and hour or 2 more every night. Don't give up dude. Life can get better but you just have to keep trying different meds till you find what works for you

I have TBI, PTSD, and no regrets.

gunnut, glad that you are getting the help at the VAMC. "Some wounds are not visible" is a saying that is very true. I appreciate your ongoing courage to trust others to help. Feel free to PM me with any questions. The VA does have your back, let me know if you ever feel otherwise. Also, thanks a great deal for keeping us informed. If you happen to be admitted, be sure you have support and a game plan after discharge, this can be the most stressful time for many (facing the world again following the safety and structure of inpatient treatment). Again, I work closely with some of my colleagues in OKC, glad and would be a privilege to be of help.

Man, this isn't a free meal. We're just using you as an excuse so we'll have something to tell our wives. I don't think there is anyone one here who has sympathy or pitty for you, just to let you know we understand and as a brotherhood we are there to help. Please keep us informed, and call anyone of us. I am up until 2-3am every night and just about every hour after that.

Gunnut,

I have somehow missed this thread until now. I just read every post, and I was so glad to hear you were getting help, that it brought a tear to my eye.

Fortunately, I haven't ever suffered from depression for more than a few hours at a time, and I believe it is because of my faith in God.

I can't imagine what you have been through, or what you are going through now, but I will be praying for you.

I am proud of the many here who have offered to help, and I too offer do what I can to be there for you, just ask, anytime.

I have a lot of free time, so if you ever need someone to talk to, or hang out with, or anything, just call.

I will PM you my phone number, so feel free to call anytime.

~Don
