No, there isn’t. That’s the point I was trying to make. Using that study and extrapolating it to SARS-CoV2 is difficult if not impossible. They aren’t closely related enough.

I get that the first one is from China and not peer reviewed, and the CDC is wishy washy. However the rest at least raise an eyebrow.

Several were made for us that have the pocket for the filter. We use filters made from dryer sheets, and change the filter and wash the mask after every use. Seemed like a bit too much at first, but it really isn't that big a deal.

I have some doubts about the level of protection it provides me, but it is quite obvious that the masks help protect others, and it just seems like the polite thing to do.

If you want an effective replaceable filter media for your masks than get a Filtrete 2800 air filter. Take it apart and harvest the filter media inside. Takes a bit of work but it yields a large piece of material to work with. The 2800 filter has a Merv 14 value which will filter out virus nuclei.

I should have been more precise. The possibility of aerosol transmission has been shown. That being said, it’s felt that very rarely is it actually transmitted that way.

“If I decide that seat belts are a bad idea, you should not guilt me into wearing one.”

I believe that is reasonable, if you are the only person in the vehicle. Things change when there are others in the vehicle with you. As most people are aware, during a wreck unrestrained objects become missiles.

The same analogy is true for masks in a pandemic, in which the disease is spread by droplets of saliva.

If folks were at the same level of risk from the disease as an un-belted passenger in a MVC . . . sure.
