So how much are you all paying for insured coverage of amounts like, $5K, $10K, or $15K?
I talked to an insurance agent with Liberty mutual and she said $2000 coverage on a home policy for firearms and seperat rider for $15 grand would be $450 a year.

Wow, that's stupid-high.

I'm wondering how much the coverage with NRA's company is? I have yet to see anything to make me want to get an NRA membership, but if their coverage is good and prices are good, I might consider it.

Also, anyone know if there's a law about double-insuring something? Like policies through multiple companies? I'm not sure... I know life insurance is fine to have multiple policies, so why not other things? I don't know, though.... don't want to end up accused of insurance fraud or something.

Well after reading all of this as I know all polices are different. Each agent may or may not know much or any about their own programs. The best thing to do is sit down and take your time and read your policy. If your agent does not give you an answer you may understand keep asking them for an easier way to explain it. If you don't get answers that make sense or no answers at all you might to look for anothe agent. Remember you are paying that agent to help you get what is best for you not what is best for him $$$$$.

bumping this older post...

I'm also looking to insure my collection. I have been told in the past when we were with Sate Farm, also when with All State and now our current Agency is telling me they need a detailed description (serial #'s, etc...), pics and also an appraisal. I find the appraisal part a joke... I don't have any Thompson Sub Guns or anything like that... almost all of my firearms are guns that can be replaced w/current or custom pieces.

I think it's time to check out the others listed here.

Oh, and our $2500 home owners coverage wouldn't begin to touch my collection for replacement and likely most others here as well. Heck, if you think about that... that's not even enough to cover replacement on a nice custom 1911 or custom AR... :|

Don't any of you tin foil hat guys think that the government could subpoena or even just take the records from your insurance company? That way they know what to confiscate and where it is located when the time comes.

You people who won't buy from dealers because of the form you have to fill out willing surrender your gun info including serial numbers to another large corporation?

Hmmm....

I'm not worried about the Government knowing what guns I have... They're all legal and on record anyhow! I'm more worried about the possibility of thieves or other ways of loosing them and being a total loss! I would like to be covered...

This is not true with State Farm. That's where mine are insured. I provided no pictures or appraisals. I wrote down make, model, serial number and price. There is a level where you have to get an appraisal, but I believe it's >$10k for an individual item. I know it's not $5k because I have one gun listed with a value >$5k and didn't have to get an appraisal.
