Interesting perspectives. Still haven't made up my mind on where I am on all of this yet. I don't mind helping out a buddy but hate to pass along savings with the thought that someone else is just going to profit from my generosity.

On a side note, why are the Pmags so much more coveted than the steel mags? I have a few of the Pmags but have never shot them. The steel mags have always worked for me so that is what I've used. Is it just because they are the newest latest thing?

Just a thought. If things are this scarce that we don't NEED (food, fuel, etc.) can you imagine how crazy things would get, and how fast, if there were a run on those commodities?

And I don't mean that we don't need gun related items. Just that the need isn't as urgent as some other items.

What's fair? As long as you honestly represent the item you are selling, it is fair to sell it for whatever price you can get for it...Capitalism at its best. It's not price gouging. The demand is high and the supply is low...We have had a significant shift in the market...people who previously didn't need an AR are now deperate for one.

BamaAlum, I think that is probably the best summation I've seen. I suppose that as long as the seller isn't fear mongering and tells it like it is, and the buyer knows that the prices are inflated due to circumstances, it's a fair trade when both walk away satisfied.

Two winters ago when we had the big snows, I went to the Sapulpa Walmart in my 4X4 about 30 hrs after the last of it fell. There was zero bread on the shelves...no problem, we have a bread maker at home and keep a good supply of bread mix....I also noticed zero eggs which I didn't need because we have chickens. I got my handful of items and was making my way up to the checkout and a poor Wonderbread routeman tried to make his way to the bread racks. The people wouldn't even let him by! Grabbing 2/3/4 loaves each! I stood off and enjoyed the show with an associate, and he told me "wait till we get some eggs"

Made me wonder how crazy things will get when the SHTF.

Be prepared folks, the best you can.

FreeTrapper, that was probably about the time my wife asked me to stop by WalMart on my way home from work. I HATE that store but being the dutiful husband I did. I was astonished. The shelves were bare! Everything gone. I went back to the sporting goods dept. since I used to pick up a box or two of ammo while there and saw people literally raking things off of the shelves into their shopping carts. I even saw one guy rake an arm full of two man tents into his cart. So there is a snow/ice storm coming and your getting tents??

I left astonished....with nothing. Just not worth the hassle.

I know there are holes in my system, but I'm better off than those people.

Gold - limited commodity.
Oil - limited commodity.
AR-15 parts - NOT. There is a manufacturing value - and that's it.
The market was already saturated. I don't particularly like AR-15, and guess what? I had 4 of them - just because they were CHEAP. Yes, before the "crazy" - the prices hit rock-manufacturing-bottom.
Right now the prices are driven by hoarders and non-gun-people grabbers. Anyone who "wanted" AR-15 - already had one - they were hanging on Walmart shelves like socks, for Pete's sake.

The plants are still running! And they will be running to the very last second IF and that's a huge IF, something goes through.

The prices are going down - don't watch idiots on auctions - watch retailer's "buy-it-now" prices. They will go down till leveling. There might be another jump if the ban goes through - but that's it. As I said - there are only so many idiots with so much cash - and the plants are still running.
