People need to stop saying the whole “their job is so hard” line. I hear it all the time in briefing and it drives me nuts.

When I was in construction if I screwed up, did I get to say, whoops well my job is real hard……no way.

I’m given a gun and badge to protect people’s rights. That means I should be held to an insanely high standard. Every cop’s life should reflect that. From getting sleep, to not drinking, eating right, training hard, but it doesn’t.

The discussion started here with should people comply with a request for ID simply because a cop asks for it. NO.

The police are government agents while on duty. Their #1 priority is not “get home alive” or “do my best.” We swear an oath to fight, defend and if necessary die for every Americans rights.

Stop watering down the importance of that by saying, “cops are humans too” or “they have a hard job.” They’re expected to be the best decision makers. Hence the reason their given a gun, badge and authority.

The expectation is high. The stakes are high. Every shift, every call, every fight is important. They should know that the eyes of every citizen is on them or they shouldn’t be carrying a gun and given the authority to strip you of your rights.

Stop acting like conservatives should support the Police no matter what. I support the good ones. That’s it.

Thank you Sir, for your service. I cannot convey how much I appreciate your honest and accurate assessment of how law enforcement should conduct themselves, if more officers had this view it would be a different world. We all know your job is hard, and I greatly appreciate the fact that your hard job does not become an excuse to stomp on civilians rights.

I agree, much like any other organization the change has to be from the top down for it to be effective and that is not something that most feel needs changing. While Leo in red states are generally calmer, I do feel that the larger number of armed citizens has some factor in that.

Where we came from the Leo community has a long running tally of killing, assaulting, and raping citizens. They've refused to take the same chiefs out therefore they continue the same behavior. Which is why I say top down.

Pardon, what you fail to understand about people who recently came here from Californiastan is we did not vote for the bs there, we did not ask them to release inmates by the thousands with no where to go, we did not ask for homeless to set up camp across the street from our homes, we did not ask for law enforcement to treat honest citizens and home owners like criminals just for trying to defend themselves, we did not ask to be terrized be our police force, nor did we ask for them to be defenunded! We were expected to live with all of this without the right to bear arms! I say it like that because there if you have a gun and a law enforcement encounter you will probably have a funeral following. Honestly if yall don't wake up a bit what is happening there will be here. We did not come here to bring that with us, we came to a better place for a better life. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions in this country, we are also free to live where we want, and Oklahoma is a beautiful red state!

The problem I see with abolishing 'Qualified Immunity' is that if it were abolished then how many times would law enforcement personnel hesitate to use force - a hesitation that could cost the life of either the officer or the person they were trying to protect?

I believe that there are just too many possible scenarios that call for a split-second response leaving no time to ponder first whether that response would be justified or not, whether that chosen response could be prosecutable or not. I think that many times officers simply have to go with their gut-feelings and just hope for the best without having to have that 'ax' forever hanging over their neck.

This is true while looking at it from as an armed citizen, with regard to shooting I feel they should be held to a higher level than us. They're above an armed citizen authority wise yet their punishment for murder is less than us?

That's where my predicament is with immunity haha
