The NRA called me one day and told me that Hillary Clinton and the United Nations were working to take my guns away.

That was a rather insulting ruse to try to scare me into joining.

As I like to avoid politics most of the time, here's my take. Sure people like me who don't want to get spammed and insulted will avoid joining organizations like the NRA, however, if a serious threat comes our way, the other 70 million people will come into picture quite clearly-at polls or with activism. Just like the U.S. is currently standing with a 2-million man volunteer armed forces roster, you can bet that number would multiple quickly if we were ever truly threatened again, like we were when Pearl Harbor was bombed.

Statics state that gun control is so unpopular right now, most politicians won't go near it with a ten foot pole. Look at the Virginia Tech massacre, for example. Nothing. Not a peep from anyone outside the badly weakened anti-gun lobbyists.

I don't like joining organizations anyway. After awhile, and the bigger they become, the more they alienate members. This is true with governments, political parties, churches... pretty much anything. I like to throw support behind something but remain neutral in membership. This policy has served me well in life.

i wonder why there are 80 million gun owners, and 11 million hunting permits and only 5 million NRA members? Perhaps the dont wanna be needlessly begged, spammed and junk mailed to death. Or maybe 75 million gun owners dont know the NRA has their best interest at heart.

Are they endorsing Romney or Obama? Just wondering because neither of these guys are what i consider gun law freindly.

So true, I only belong for the cheap, but great, gun insurance

In my 20 years in the USAF, the main thing that we all knew was that unlawful orders are not required to be obeyed. Though many states have enacted legislation since to prevent this from happening again, we all know that the Government will do what the Government can get away with if we let them. BTW, traders acquire better guns by trading up, whereas traitors go against the Constitution and attempt to confiscate lawfully owned weapons.
Good Catch Bill.

While pretty much ignoring other posts in this thread, I will vote for Romney. Not because I agree with anything he says (Very little, actually) or his voting record (which screams lack of taking a stance), but because he will still have to worry about being re-elected. I think he will be just as bad as Obama in his first term.
