Got the sheriffs called on me last night

No matter what you do, there is always someone that is going to complain. Even if you notified the neighbors ahead of time that you were going to fire at 1600 hrs. Some people just aren't happy regardless of what you do,

This, this a thousand times this! I learned a long time ago that there's a certain percentage of the population that literally aren't happy unless they're mad about something. If there's nothing to be mad about? They'll invent something.

If I'm in conflict with someone, I'll bend pretty far to accommodate a mutually agreeable compromise. When I recognize they're just one of those "bless your heart" people, my offers come off the table and I walk away. Nothing is more frustrating than trying to appease and unappeasable person.

That being said, I agree that perhaps a note to the neighbors offering to let them see your safety precautions might put some of them at ease and make for better relations. If not, nothing is lost in the effort!

I just picked my son up from school just a little bit ago and he told me that a couple of the kids asked him why the cops were at his house and then they laughed and then walked off and gave each other high fives. So apparently it was one of their parents that called. Which is bizarre since they Live at the front of the addition. Who knows. All I know is I don’t care. They don’t live next to me so I ain’t worried about it. I still don’t understand why no one has said a word about me shooting for about a year and then all of the sudden someone does. It’s all the same people that lived here when I moved in last April. So I don’t get why this time was different. Even when I was doing mag dumps with my AR not a word was said. Whoever did it needs to get a life. Or maybe they are jealous because I can shoot back here and they can’t up at the front.

Unfortunately, this is the kind of activity that works against us. Of course you should be able to shoot on your property, and you are within the law, and on and on and on. But it might be an easier life if you take your shooting to an established range for awhile. Let whoever it is cool off or move away from you. No need to be the neighborhood problem child.

Just keep shooting. Your not doing anything illegal, your shooting in a safe manner(Burm).
The sheriff's department has been out and seen your burm and saw where you were shooting and apparently they were ok with it, if not you would have been issued a citation.

Why should he quit doing what is completely legal??? He is not being a problem child, the jackasses that called Leo without first coming over and having a neighborly conversation are spineless windowlickers who I would not give the time of day!! Crap behavior like this is what is wrong with the USA. Man of the house needs to ask his wife if he can use his nuggets and come over and see whats up.
People need to grow the hell up!!

You buy property and spend good $$ to have certain "FREEDOMS", I served this country and I enjoy my guns, what I don't enjoy is the sniveling nature of todays human.. I wandered the woods in the 70's with a gun and nothing ever occurred, see the below quote for further explanation..

I'll add, now that the sheriff has been out maybe now your inspected and OK.. I have 5 berms and they are constructed similar to a C so that no spall or ricochets can leave my property as we have 5 that butt up us, 3 of which are shooters, our area is full of shooters and with luck this will keep us from the aggravation of that type of people.. To air on side of caution I'd inspect the berm and see if it could use improvement, which would serve you well in that your a safety 1st individual..

Keep in mind recent events, protests and attitudes. Someone hears a gunshot and they start locking everything down in a twenty mile radius. May be time in invest in some suppressors.

I have a buddy with similar neighbors outside Ponca City. After the sheriff's paid him a visit, and reaffirmed he was fine to shoot on his property, he bought a small black powder cannon. It doesn't shoot projectiles, but it makes a hell of a racket. He's 'that' neighbor.
