No going to be voted on this year. Off the record, the secretary will post it for one of the final items for last day vote but it will never make it to be voted on.

I knew this was the fate of the bill when it was introduced.Fallin had no intention of signing it,she knew it would never make it out of the legislature.Call it a conspiracy if you want, but the legislature doesn't want this bill passed.

As far as HB2522 goes, I think the only thing missing now is for Ashton Kutcher to jump out with his camera crew and tell us we've been 'PUNKED' with the help of Sen. Russell!

One small thing I do to help acclimate people to open carry is when I'm carrying my Ruger LCP in my pocket or my Glock 23 or 19 under my T-shirt IWB... I try to always have a spare magazine in full view on my belt in a drop in / open top magazine holder... the spring tension kind where it is obvious it is a magazine for a firearm. I've been doing this for a long time and never once has it gotten anyone upset... nor have I ever had police officers in say a restaurant or checkout line raise issue over it by asking if I was carrying.

If I'm at Walmart... in the sporting goods department and someone is asking the clerk about the best kind of self-defense ammo for their weapon... I pull out the magazine and show them what kind I carry. No law against showing ammo.. only the weapon. I carry Hornady Critical Defense.. which most places like Walmart doesn't sell.. so it gives me a chance in a small way to get people in my town of approx. 30,000 to thinking favorably about someone other than a police officer carrying a weapon. If I can get even one or two people a day to think favorably about personal carry of a firearm... by them seeing someone they believe has weapon & acting in a safe manner.. then that could be 365- 700 a year leaning favorably toward our 2A side.

I don't believe in carrying a empty holster like some are doing to support open carry. I'd prefer people to see the loaded Magazine over a empty holster. Guys will see the magazine and ask what kind of weapon I carry or what kind of ammo I carry. It starts the conversation.. then you can point them to this forum and other forums that support Open Carry.

What's the "it" being referred to here? SB1733? Or Russell's amended HB2522? Important distinction.

Truthfully, I don't think it matters.

Would be interesting to know what back-office dealing has been going on here with this kind of stuff. I for one do not believe for a second that Sen. Russell was naive in his actions towards this bill. I believe he and others knew exactly what they were doing, and the best way to sandbag these bills while still giving the "appearance" of supporting open carry and the full intent of the 2nd Amendment. I do not believe that to be true at all.

Face it folks... we are all just commoners, and they are the ruling elite, who do not believe we are smart enough to know what is good for us. This includes Fallin, as well... I remember one person who was all excited after meeting Fallin and saying what a great Governor she was going to be for the State... he pointed out to me that she was "pro-gun" and she would support Open Carry, I pointed out some of her past issues and he was a bit deflated that I didn't agree with him. I told him I would believe it when I saw it signed into law, something we should all take away from this legislative debacle. Manipulating the system to try to give one appearance while doing something else, then blaming it on "the process" is nothing short of a full-fledged lie.

They're liars, folks.

All of them.

Used to think it was only when their lips moved. This OC situation along with some other well known but ignored issues make me think it might be continual and autonomous, like breathing.

If nothing related to open carry passes this year, then I for one am voting for the democrat running in every state election i get to vote on. I will also send money to democrats.

It's time these sanctimonious nincompoops realized we are ticked off.

I was cynical at the start of this year, and got some hope, but now I realize I was simply being a realist. OC is not going to pass in this state. It's not a free state. 42 other states are freer. it's clear the RINOs we voted in are as bad as the democrats.

I agree. Politicians are to lawyers what lawyers are to the rest of us.
A politician is a lawyer's lawyer.
lawyers are sharks amongst us, and politicians are the sharks amongst the lawyers.
they only understand one thing: loss of power.
Hence my decision to vote democrat this year at the state level if some form of OC does not make it through. and for the next governor as well.
