For me it’s peace of mind also…… if I get stopped by the popo and I can show them my CCW permit I am hoping they will realize I have had a background check and that I’m possibly not wanted for anything ………….maybe!
Possible, but then you also could be seen as a threat. It’s far safer if people just assume we are ALL carrying. An armed society is a polite society.

Although I'm not very smart, the only current advantage I see to SDA now is when traveling out of state (work, vacation, etc).
IIRC, 40+ states honor Okla SDA but maybe less than 30 have Constitutional Carry.
If there are other valid reasons, I'm not aware of, please post them.

Same reason here. Odds are against an encounter where self defense would be required but I'd rather be prepared than become a statistic.

A lot of states honor constitutional carry.
Oklahoma and Texas for sure
No advantage for ccw, that I can find, unless you go to a State that requires it, then it has to be a reciprocity state. All states have restrictions like Government Buildings or Private Business who do not allow guns. Some have caliber restrictions.

The above for mentioned is not legal advice nor necessarily my knowledge, just what I read on the site, which claims to be a legal Gun Information site.

Carry is each individuals risk.

Situational Training would be far more helpful to individuals than permits, here is one example

The best handgun training program that I ever experienced was a 1980s CLEET Semi-automatic Certification Coarse: Day and Night Fire With Flashlight and Without Flashlight Illumination Using Muzzle Flash To Visualize Target; Weak and Strong Hand; Fast Draw/Fire/ on Threat with Hostage Close Range (1) Second Dynamic Target, Holster, Secure, Repeat; Dozier Drill;Timed Draw, Fire at Metal Drop Threat Targets without Hitting Bystander Targets, Run and Repeat from Various Positions (Prone, Kneeling, Cover etc.; Climb to Tower and engage Last Target at 100 Yards. Over 700 rounds fired during program with benefit of police coaches riding your azz looking diligently for range and safety violations…. LMAO! I used a .45 cal. Colt 1911 Series 70 Combat Commander for the coarse and placed in the top 10% of a large class most in which most were shooting 9mm rounds. I owe a debt of gratitude to OHP Trooper Cecil Craig for his off range coaching before the program. I’m thinking back and noticing how quickly time is passing by…..

Effective 07/01/2024, applicants wishing to renew an SDA Handgun License after the renewal time frame allowed per Title 21 OS 1290.5, are required to submit an application through the Initial Application process. This process requires completing an Oklahoma Self-Defense Act Training class and processing your completed Self-Defense Act application through the County Sheriff’s Office of the county in which you physically reside, including new fingerprint cards.
**The SDA Unit can no longer process *Expired Renewals* per state statute.**
Effective 11/01/2024, per SB 1291, applicants shall have 30-days from the expiration of the license to comply with the renewal requirements in Title 21 OS 1290.5.

This link is Title 21 OS 1290.5

Reach out if you are required to retake the course. I am an SDA and NRA Instructor. This is an 8 hour course by standard. There is not a truncated course.

One of the benefits that I've found of keeping my SDA is that I don't have to worry about getting a disapproval when filling out a 4473 because they don't even have to call it in. I was in and out of Sooner State Pawn in about 10 minutes yesterday when I picked up my Kel Tec Sub 2000. And that's with me browsing a little.
