I insure all of my guns with state farm. They have a personal articles policy for items like guns, laptops, SLR cameras, basically anything of great value. Its awesome AND cheap. It's $2.00 for every $100 of value. So if you want to insure your glock that cost $500, it'll cost you $10.00 per year. Best part is there isn't a deductible. If your gun is lost or stolen all you have to do is go buy the replacement and bring the insurance the receipt. My agent cuts me a check right in his office, so no waiting weeks for a reimbursement of the funds. Win-Win in my book.

I am under the impression that State Farm requires you to have the weapons apprased to set the value of them for the policy... is this true?

I have been thinking about the NRA policy because all you have to do is list the weapons..... but I have never heard of anybody actually having to make a claim with the NRA insurance.

I have my collection insured with the NRA program. I have never had to make a claim (knock on wood), but I have been told they are easy to work with.

Collectinsure.com is also very good and well thought of around the firearm community. I have $15,000 in insurance for $99 and there isn't a deductible. You also don't have to get an appraisal. My HO policy wanted a ton of stuff and told me that it would have to be redone whenever I bought a new weapon.

Yeah thats totally false. I have on average $4-6k insured with them at any given time. All they require is the serial # and a value of the gun insured. I swap guns all the time. I just go into the office and tell them what I'm adding or removing, and its insured when I leave the office. Its very easy. Give my guy a call, he's a good agent and easy to deal with. His name is Greg jones in moore, 405-794-0020. They are even open saturdays if you can't get in during the week.
