Well apparently I was lied to in the Oklahoma Handbook I was issued when we moved here. I was told when it’s in a pie it’s a Pee-Kan and when you’re eating just the nut it’s a Puh-Kahn. Growing up we always pronounced it more like Pi-Kan with the “i” being pronounced like it is in “hit” “spit” “kit”.

My daughter entered a pie contest for the first time last weekend. She decided to make her great granny’s Pecan Pie.

I know you purists are gonna choke on this,,,
But those little 85-cent pecan pies from Wal Mart are delightful.

They were much better when they were only 50-cents.

It's my one guilty treat after a grocery shopping day.
