A month ago I was going to get a new computer but the guy at Best Buy told me to wait until October because that's when they would be shipping with windows eight already installed. So I was going to wait. In the meantime, my little computer repair geek saw a preview video about windows eight. He said that it looks horrible and I should probably go ahead and get a new one with windows seven instead. Any of you know anything about windows eight yet?

1. do not ever, under any circumstances, buy anything from best buy.
2. windows 8 is going to flop very similarly to gnome3.

find a friend that knows what their doing and have them build you one, offer a case of beer or 20 bucks or something as build compensation. it takes 20 minutes to throw the parts together.

"Windows 8 looks to me to be an unmitigated disaster that could decidedly hurt the company and its future ... The real problem is that it is both unusable and annoying."

As I understand it, 8 is a Microsoft attempt to emulate Mac OS.
iOS, big difference. it is a an apple operating system, but its not the one that runs their pc's.
they're trying to cater to the crowd that has gotten used to using ipads.

win7 is rock solid & lean. get a 64bit version of home premium with the custom pc you should be getting built. dont pay more than 99$ for it either.

Never buy a brand new Microsoft product right out of the gate. Buy the proven product that's been stabilized. The upgrade later is cheaper than buying the latest & greatest outright, then finding out it doesn't work worth a damn. I learned that lesson with Vista. :(

I always advise people to skip the first offering of a new Microsoft OS platform.
Windows 3.0 - crap
Windows 3.1 - better
Windows 95 - crap
Windows 98 - better
Windows ME - crap
Windows XP - better
Windows Vista - crap
Windows 7 - better
Windows 8 - ???... but you get the picture.
