that's not the point, what muslim nation has a democracy?

The Palestinians are a conquered people of many religions including many Christians.
A 2007 study by the United States Department of State indicated that religious freedom is generally respected by authorities, although discrimination and preferential treatment do exist. It found generally good relations between Christians and Muslims in the area, but high tension between Jewish and non-Jewish populations.

The Lebanese used to be a pretty stable nation till destabilized by outsiders.
What the Palestinians can be is unknown because they don't have a country yet.

Why should we care?

And a Constitutional Republic is what we should be interested in trying to influence other nations to pursue. Not democracy. Hitler rose to power in a democracy and a Constitutional Republic is nothing like it.

It is exactly the point. The topic has to do with discrimination against either the Israelis (if Palestine achieves statehood) or the Palestinians/Arabs (already set to occur or is occurring due to Israeli legislation). Whether or not Israel has a democracy is totally off topic. So again - it's OK to discriminate against a group (or groups), so long as the treatment meted out under your discrimination is less harsh than the treatment said people would encounter in surrounding nations?

Israel should sink or swim on it's own. Yet they've played the "victim" card enough while acting as the provocateur. The US then rushes in with it's military to kill Israel's enemies because the Christian right has this insane belief that they'll be blessed by God for siding with "his chosen people". How's that blessing stuff going America? Doesn't seem to be working so well for the past 60+ years of support of Israel. Seemed to do a hell of a lot better during the first 170+ years before Israel became a state and a pain in the azz.

True, we paid a heavy price in both money and blood. We no longer have any money and the American people are tired of living like they do, constantly under the threat of terrorism.
We've done more than enough and I don't buy it that God is a bigot and loves some people more than others and expects us to kill the enemies of those that he loves.

Quite possibly one of the best statements I've heard/read in a while.
