:lmfao: And that, sir, is why he has the job. It is much like Executive Security. The guys there consider their job to be the best one in the department. The guys on the turnpike consider their job to be the best on in the department. Ask any trooper out there if his assignment is the cream of the crop and most will tell you it is.

My point was that it is just another assignment within the department (like executive security for the Gov.'s Mansion) and not some arbitary reward for being an extra special Super Trooper. And it is certainly not all fun and games, no pun intended. Like I said, he is there to provide security ... Not drink beer, eat popcorn and wave his pom-poms. :D

I guess I still don't understand why you think you have this insight, I guess because you're married to a Cop?

Listen, anyone reading this would know that it is a FANTASTIC detail - you travel with a high profile Coach and Team, travel with them, stay in the hotels and are, for all intensive purposes, a part of the team. Think what you want, but according to THE TROOPER ACTUALLY DOING IT, you are wrong.

Not sure what your idea of fun is, but that's a pretty good definition to me.

But that is my point exactly ... Not all the Troopers out there (and I am not talking about GC here as he provides security for "high profile" citizens also) think that providing security to high profile anybody and traveling and being away from their families is fun. I am glad your family member likes what he is doing. It makes getting your 20 years in much more enjoyable when you have an assignment you like.

My point was that being assigned to the games is NOT fun and games. It is a job. I have seen your family member do his job. He is very good at it. I would be tempted to be watching the game. I have never seen a camera catch him doing anything other than his job. Good for him.

You are right ... following anybody around whether at a football game or some kind of national or international travel of any sort does NOT sound like fun to me.

I wasn't trying to pick a fight with you or suggest that he is any less a Trooper because he follows Coach Gundy around. Quite the contrary. My point was (and still remains) that he is doing his JOB, not out playing around on the taxpayer dime.

OKCShooter ... I went back and checked. I can see where you might think that I was disparaging your family member. The troopers (and there have been several) I have talked to (again, not GC) who have worked security at the ballgames have hated it with a passion. It is obviously not a job everyone enjoys.

Obviously this means I have not had the pleasure of meeting your family member. Sorry if I offended you.

Thank you, and no offense taken.

I just know directly from him (we are close) that everything you wrote was the antithesis of what he says. Also, Troopers are lined up for this detail. If someone doesn't enjoy it, they wouldn't do it.

There is a line waiting to get into the Gov. Mansion also. I am so glad GC got that assignment ... He is happy. He is also off the street and that makes for a very happy me!! :D

Are we just talking about OSU football games here? I ask because my grandpa and my uncle are currently Clevland County Deputies, and they work the OU games.

My uncle is only a reserve so he normally just works directing traffic, but my grandpa does security on the field.

Does OHP do OU games with Clevland County?

Yep. Last time I was in Norman for an OU ballgame it looked to me like EVERYBODY was working the game ... LOL

From what I understand, and I might remind everyone, I have limited knowledge on this, but I think there is at least one trooper at every game, both home and away for both OSU and OU.

So is there an actual assignment where there are several troopers doing this job, rotating or something, or is there just one assigned to OU and one assigned to OSU?
